Presentation of the catalogue “Chagall in mosaico. Dal progetto all’opera”
Marc Chagall, one of the most important masters of the twentieth century, began his adventure in the world of mosaics in 1954, when, upon returning from a trip to Greece, he was deeply struck by the beauty of the Byzantine mosaics in Ravenna.
Starting with one of his masterpieces in the MAR collection in Ravenna, Le Coq bleu, the volume pays
tribute to this important chapter in the Master’s work, which developed in close collaboration with local mosaicists. The catalogue, richly illustrated with works, sketches and historical photos, is the first catalogue raisonné dedicated to Marc Chagall’s mosaic works, offering an overview of all the works created between 1958 and 1986, together with projects and collaborations with artists from Ravenna.
