Around the Halls
Opening: 16 October at 6,30 p.m. (starting from Palazzo Bezzi at 6.30 pm, Palazzo Galletti Abbiosi at 7 pm, Hotel NH Ravenna at 7.30 pm, Gironda at 8 pm, Chez Papa at 8.30 pm, Casa Masoli at 9 pm, Hotel Diana at 9.30 pm, Santa Maria Foris at 10 pm).
A new feature of the 9th Biennial of Contemporary Mosaic is the exhibition Around the Halls, curated by Daniele Torcellini and Chiara Gizzi, which aims to highlight the increasingly strong link between the city of Ravenna and its rich artistic heritage and hospitality.
With Around the Halls, Ravenna takes another step forward: several local tourism operators are making their spaces available for a widespread and innovative exhibition itinerary. Palazzo Bezzi, Palazzo Galletti Abbiosi, NH Ravenna, Gironda, Chez Papa, Casa Masoli, Hotel Diana and Santa Maria Foris are hosting works by artists from the Academy of Fine Arts of Ravenna and the Scuola Mosaicisti del Friuli.
At Palazzo Bezzi, mosaic artist Livio Savioli exhibits a series of works collected under the title Così e Colà, based on the free gesture of recomposition.
Palazzo Galletti Abbiosi hosts Jae Hee Kim‘s exhibition, entitled Tra il desiderio e l’illusione, which summarises the profound meaning of her research: sometimes in life we lose ourselves between desires and unattainable dreams.
The NH Hotel opens its hall to host the works of Isotta Folli, under the title Bestiario Antropomorfo, which stems from the desire to pay homage to the dark side present in every person.
Gironda opens its hall to Aziz Sydygaliev‘s exhibition entitled Hall of Absence, which encapsulates his poetics: highlighting absence, the parts that are usually abandoned.
Chez Papa opens its doors to exhibit the works of Daniela Iurato, summarised under the title Imparare a tremare, where the mosaic is based on the principle of abandonment and suspension from all forms of control.
The hall of Casa Masoli hosts Giorgia Pettinari‘s triptych Un aprés-midi, exploration that draws on the legacy of Byzantine mosaics. The artist investigates the themes of transparency and revelation as forms of possibility.
The Hotel Diana displays works by Rita Amadori collected under the title Memoria e consapevolezza, which summarises her strong desire to delve into the depths of human beings in order to recognise their origins.
Santa Maria Foris displays the works of artist Alice Zanelli, collected under the title What I see, which is based on dualism: darkness and light, memory and oblivion.
The exhibition spaces of Ravenna Incoming, a consortium and DMC (Destination Management Company) for tourism promotion and hospitality, are also part of the circuit an host the artworks of the collective CaCO3 .
The project is supported and promoted by the Municipality of Ravenna – Department of Culture, Mosaics and Tourism, by MAR – Ravenna Art Museum, and by all the exhibition venues involved in the project.
