Niente è veramente nostro finchè non lo condividiamo (C.S Lewis)
Opening: 16 October at 4 p.m.
The proposed installation is a reflection on mosaics as shared spaces. The work is the result of research, design and craftsmanship by the students of the art school. This is the first time that a third-year class from the Nervi-Severini Art School (painting-mosaic course) has decided to participate in such an important event as the Biennial of Contemporary Mosaic, and it is also the first time that the class, divided into specialisations, has come together to create a single work. After reflecting with the class together with Prof. Daniele Torcellini, teacher Prof. Elisa Simoni decided to revive what had already happened in the 1950s, namely the incredible combination of painting and mosaic.
Class 3E wants to revisit the concept of the artist-designer who creates the “cartoon” and the mosaicist-executor who actually creates it, but this time with a fusion, because everyone will be called upon to mix and do everything, to bring back the concept of mosaic as a unicum, or a shared place.
The aim is therefore to start from tradition and turn it into a contemporary work that can involve not only those who create it but also those who enjoy it, because mosaics invite us to enter their own dimension, made up of play, observation, participation, involvement and inclusion.
