Women Art Creators in Mosaic

On Sunday, Oct. 22, at 5 p.m., in the Sala Martini del Mar, the Asja lacis Aps association will present the documentary film – dedicated to young women mosaicists from Ravenna and abroad: Generatrici nel mosaico (lit. Women Art Creators in Mosaic) by Anita Guardigli and Carla Scala, with filming and editing by Mauro Bosi.
In Ravenna the mosaic scene is very rich and enjoys the numerous presence of women artists and artisans.
In the documentary, the Asja Lacis Aps association wanted to represent the new generations of mosaicists: coming from different cultural backgrounds, from the West to the East to Latin America, with their works they renew a technique with a millenary tradition.
In the documentary Francesca Fantoni, Aniko Ferreira Da Silva, Aleksandra Miteva, Silvia Naddeo and Eleonora Savorelli represent a cross-section of contemporary cultural contaminations and hybridizations.
The title of the documentary film takes its cue from feminist and philosopher Adriana Cavarero‘s 1991 text Putting the World into the World. The symbolic meaning of “Generators in the Mosaic” is that women have emerged from stereotypical roles and are at the center of cultural change.
