Via Portone Open-air Museum
Through the installation of artworks on the façades of buildings in Via Portone, Ravenna – the narrow street in the Borgo San Biagio district just outside Porta Adriana – which were once home to many artists and mosaicists, the street will become an open-air mosaic museum. This project, conceived for Ravenna, Capital of Mosaics, in collaboration with the City Council and Ravenna’s art schools (the Art School and the Academy of Fine Arts), will transform this street – already designated the ‘Street of Mosaic Artists’ on the new plaque of the Circolo La Gardela – into a new itinerary designed to reveal lesser-known aspects of the city to tourists and residents alike. A project that highlights Ravenna’s ancient and contemporary cultural expressions through its main local specialities, such as mosaics, music and fine food.
