Sergio Policicchio – Per chi vede l’oro nelle farfalle
Opening: 11 October at 5,00 p.m.
Curated by Serena Simoni. As in all of Policicchio‘s works, the shift between drawing and micro-mosaic is a result that can only be detected at close range. With the narrative and decorative function of the mosaic completely gone, and its emphasis as a volumetric contrast disappeared, the micro-interventions adhere to the rules of an evanescent construction. In the very recent series Para quem vê ouro nas borboletas (lit. For those who see gold in butterflies), the process of abstraction proceeds rapidly, confirming the loss of shadows and boundaries: attention is focused on the detail, on a gesture and on the senses in a fusion with nature. The protagonists are falling drops, slender flowering branches suspended in a silent, dazzling space. Water, leaves and evanescent dandelions give shape to immaterial constellations on which partial micro-mosaic interventions sprout, revealing themselves only when one pauses in front of the work, moving around to capture the interference of light.
The invitation to participate in a recomposition with the generative forces of nature is clear, to suspend oneself from time as a sum of events in order to perceive the beauty of nature and the moment.
