From Matter the Light

From matter the light is an artistic project, curated by Giovanni Gardini, that investigates the mosaic as a place of transformation: the matter that has arisen from the depths of silicon becomes light and time manifests itself in the continuous change of reflections and glows. Light, movement, matter, time, colour: ancient mosaic art makes the categories of physical research its own. Light touches the chords of interiority and becomes an existential necessity. The light received and reflected by the mosaic reveals the richness and dignity of matter, elevates it to glory, to the manifestation of the All in the reverberation of the fragment. The exhibition will involve CaCo3 and Davide Maria Coltro in close dialogue. CaCo3 is a collective formed by Âniko Ferreira da Silva, Giuseppe Donnaloia and Pavlos Mavromatidis, who for years have been pursuing mosaic art research centred on the theme of light. Davide Maria Coltro, whose research focuses on electronic painting, in which pixels are transformed into tiles that manifest, in a continuous process of modification, the germination and majesty of colour.
