Dalla luce del mosaico all’immagine profetica. Primo Movimento

Since 2017, ErosAntEros has been exploring Dante’s work and his connection with the city of Ravenna, where we will commemorate the 700th anniversary of his death in 2021.
We have decided to reflect on this presence, which has so profoundly shaped the region in which we live and the culture of the entire world, through a poetic and musical project dedicated to the debt that the Divine Comedy owes to the places where its last two canticles were composed. We place ourselves at the service of Dante’s words to highlight their intrinsic musicality through the exploration of sound and voice that is central to our theatrical practice, whilst at the same time engaging in a dialogue with the mosaics that inspired the poet’s writing as he journeyed through the Heavens and which still adorn the walls and vaults of Ravenna’s places of worship.
Added to these are visions of natural paradises, such as the Classe pine forest – evoked by Dante himself at the gates of the Earthly Paradise – and the wooded landscapes of the Natisone river valleys, where we spent a residency for this project and which, alongside their natural beauty, conceal the infernal mark of human passage, which, through wars, has left indelible traces on the land.
As part of Ravenna Mosaico 2017, we are launching the first phase of the project, created specifically to occupy the evocative loggia on the ground floor of the City of Ravenna Art Museum.
