Bibliomosaico. Libri d’artista in tessere musive

The international exhibition BIBLIOMOSAICO – artists’ books in mosaic tesserae – was born, as part of RavennaMosaico in 2009, from an idea by Rosetta Berardi, with the intention of stimulating a reflection on the shape of the book, that is on the representation of a “book” object which asks to be looked at and not read, a “non-book” book, an “object book”, a book that, despite having lost its word content, has gained its specific conceptual meaning as an open work. An exercise in creativity that communicates its own free expressive autonomy through the mosaic technique.
It is not the book that becomes a work but the work that becomes or recalls the book. This exhibition proposes a selection of 47 works, created in 2009, 2011, 2013, 2015 and 2017 specifically for the space that hosted 5 editions of the exhibition, among the paper books of Edizioni del Girasole. A collection of unique specimens resulting from an exercise in creativity which has involved young and less young artists from many countries of the world. The exhibition, on the shelves of the Library, will give a precious elegance to the space that converses and interacts with the works in an exemplary manner. This exhibition concludes the BIBLIOMOSAICO adventure at the Edizioni del Girasole in the best possible way and, as per the original idea, the works will be exhibited among the paper books of the prestigious Classense Library before returning to their authors all over the world.
