Accademia di Belle Arti di Ravenna – MICRO & MACRO, Ravenna da indossare

The MICRO & MACRO project comprises works created by students on the jewellery design course led by Prof. Emanuela Bergonzoni and the workshop led by Prof. Maria Teresa Vacchini at the Academy of Fine Arts. The necklaces, conceived as large, striking pieces mounted on transparent Plexiglas, feature a design inspired by the floor plans of Ravenna’s historic monuments: the Basilica of San Vitale, the Mausoleum of Theodoric, the Mausoleum of Galla Placidia, the Basilica of Sant’Apollinare Nuovo, the Neonian Baptistery, the Arian Baptistery, the Archbishop’s Chapel and the Basilica of Sant’Apollinare in Classe. Thanks to the metal settings and the micro-mosaic thread decorations, the necklaces are transformed into evocative sculptures to which metal settings have been applied.
