Infinitely Small. The micromosaic and the jewel
The exhibition Infinitely Small. The micromosaic and the jewel, curated by Emanuela Bergonzoni, aims to highlight the potential of both jewellery and spun-micromosaic within research and the contemporary world. The culture of micromosaic is perfectly integrated with the culture of jewellery, both ancient and skilful interpretative techniques that require intelligent hands to express their full potential. The students of the Jewellery Design course at the Academy of Fine Arts of Ravenna are at their first experience of working with metal to create the bezels, the structures needed to contain the spun micro-mosaic. As of 2022, the didactic indications are to create a prototype for serialisation, so as to have alongside unique authorial works also a perspective that is effectively articulated in the actual design, centring in serial reproducibility one of the cornerstones of the latter.
