Academy of Fine Art of Ravenna – Soundcheck
Soundcheck is a project promoted by the Academy of Fine Arts in Ravenna for the 2022 Mosaic Biennial, which includes a programme of multiple events, including exhibitions and conferences. It is a testament to the assiduous mosaic research that students in the three-year and two-year courses have been carrying out for some time on contemporary art, attentive to tradition but open to new media, enriched by painting, sculpture, jewellery design and micro-mosaics, as well as multimedia.
The term Soundcheck, which in the field of music refers to the final rehearsal before concerts and performances, is in this case a metaphor for the production rehearsals of the students’ works, a fusion of sculpture and mosaic, the result of the teaching carried out by Professor Nicola Cucchiaro and Emanuele Matronola during the 2021/2022 academic year. The exhibition, which opens on 7 October in the new Polo delle arti venue, formerly Monte dei Paschi di Siena in Piazza Kennedy, brings together the different identities and personalities of the students, merging them into a puzzle where each has contributed a piece dedicated to their own poetics.
