Alice Padovani, Laura Renna – Tessere

The exhibition brings together the work of two artists based in Modena, Alice Padovani (1979) and Laura Renna (1971), who reinvent the mosaic technique in different ways. The word chosen to legitimise this comparison is the Italian term “tessere”, understood in two senses, “tiles” and “weaving”: the constituent elements of mosaics and the act of intertwining threads. These are the two factors that characterise the practices of the respective artists, aimed at combining, in the first case, and weaving, in the second.
